PAC BOT point5 mk2 eight core RK3588S

PAC BOT 0.5 mk2 is built to order and requires an approximate 3 week lead time before shipment. The real time frame depends on availability of components and how fast they arrive to my location, and may be shorter than stated above.

PAC BOT 0.5 mk2 is my attempt at offering a functional Windows 11 environment in a small as possible form factor:  14hp and no more than 45mm deep.  this module is meant for running plugins in a live situation so you can perform with your favorite sample collection from Kontakt or use actual serum or massive or reaktor etc among many others for the advanced results they offer.

its Orange Pi 5 Pro based, so has much to offer in the way of CPU resources with 8 cores up to 2.4 ghz.  RAM is also very adequate with 16gb of ddr5, the fast stuff!  the only thing it lacks is fast storage media capability.  this makes it great for hosting many VST instruments and fx plugins but not as much for multi track audio recording duties, although i suspect you could get away with quite a bit of function before you noticed the HDD speeds which are limited to 560 mbps.

fan noise is ok for a live rig and you can set it lower by choosing the 3.3v pin to plug the fan into from the gpio.

plug a full size 1080p hdmi monitor into its forward facing micro hdmi jack.  you can also use it in headless mode over software like [splashtop personal] without the need for a monitor.  once you have a set up youre happy with, you can use it without a screen, just assign your midi channels and controllers before hand.  reaper will start with the same state as when you shut down.  of course you dont need to use reaper, you can try your host of choice.

one forward facing USB 3.1 jack gives you 5gbps data speeds, perfect for your hub.

two forward facing usb 2 jacks give you plenty to connect your mouse dongle and optional dirtywave m8 headless!

one forward facing usbc port for power input only.

all plugs can be connected behind the face plate if you prefer.

256gb emmc and 512gb sata ssd are included, along with a usbc power supply.

only class compliant audio hardware works as far as i know.  my es8 shows up as stereo only.  asio4all works great with my ‘hifimediy sabre’, which is a $39 stereo sound card with spdif/analog combination jack.  it sounds great and works fine for output.  i also use usb midi with a tiny ‘retrokits rk006’ that gives me plenty of i/o.  also any synth with usb midi works quite well.

needless to say, this module is not intended for web browsing.  ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, the second hdmi and fast nvme support are all disabled in windows.  These may work at a later date but it will need some driver development that is unlikely.  You can use a usb hub with an ethernet jack to access the internet and should be done from behind an external firewall only.  This unit should not be updated, as the custom drivers will be overwritten and it will need a rebuild.  Updates have been disabled.

most bloat has been eliminated and the system runs lean and clean!  perfect for your live rig!

ubuntu can be flashed and even dual booted with windows, and then all features of the board are accessible.  Orange Pi offers an image which is quick and easy.
